Risk, measured vehicle by vehicle.
Your insurer sees an average. Backlane measures every vehicle: real kilometres, dense-city driving, age, history. A gap you can measure is a gap you can correct, and negotiate.
On a flat premium, a third of your fleet pays for the other two-thirds' insurance.
The good news: that gap can be measured. And once measured, it can be fixed, and negotiated.
Your insurer sees an average. Backlane measures every vehicle: real mileage, dense urban share, age, history. On a real 1,500-vehicle fleet, risk varies 1 to 7 between two vehicles.
The diagnostic is an analysis service; it is neither an insurance offer nor insurance advice. Future covers will be underwritten by licensed insurers and distributed once Backlane is ORIAS-registered.
Three levels, and one thing that is true today.
On a subject as regulated as insurance, the only honest position is to say where we stand. Here are the three levels, in order, with what is in production and what is still only a plan.
We measure risk
Each vehicle's risk cost, the fleet map, the levers on claims frequency. You walk into your renewal with numbers your insurer does not have. That is in production, it is included, and it requires no licence.
in productionWe administer your files
Portfolio follow-up, assembling claim files, dealing with the insurer and the broker. Back-office work that carries no risk and distributes no contract.
being builtBacklane Cover
Cover taken out through Backlane, priced on measured risk, underwritten by licensed insurance companies. That requires an ORIAS registration we do not yet hold. Until we do, we do not sell it and we commit to no date.
not before licensingWhat follows from that order: you have nothing to change with your insurer to benefit from the measurement, and you will have nothing to change either the day Cover exists. The measurement keeps its value in both cases, and that is deliberate.
Is Backlane an insurer?
No, and not a broker today. Backlane Cover will come after ORIAS registration, underwritten by licensed insurance companies. Today we measure risk, we do not carry it.
What does measurement change about my premium?
It replaces an average with a file: real mileage, real usage, claims by cohort. That is a negotiating argument you can use immediately, with your current insurer.
Do we have to change insurer?
No. Nothing changes with your insurer or your broker: the measurement is there for you to argue with them first, and that is often enough.
No commitment. Nothing changes with your current tools or insurer.
