A fleet is steered euro by euro. We built the system that does it.
Backlane is a French software company. One simple conviction: every day, every vehicle produces, sleeps or costs, and nobody should need three spreadsheets to know which. So we built the OS that classifies, acts and collects.
The thesis
The vehicle-day is our unit of account: ~500,000 a year on the first fleet under management. The software does not show the work, it does it: rents debited, kilometres invoiced, fines rebilled, claims tracked. The model →
Proof before promise
More than 5,000 vehicles under management, and a strict editorial rule: we only publish what we measure, on real cohorts, without ever making a client identifiable. The results →
Governance first
Agents that work at night, but never without you: every sensitive send waits for your approval, everything is journaled, replayable, recoverable at any time. The agents →
Three things changed at the same time.
From 1 September 2026, every French company must be able to receive an electronic invoice, and large companies must issue one. A rental company still sending PDFs attached to emails has to change pipes anyway. The pipe may as well do the work.
The telematics box is no longer a fleet-tracking gadget: it gives real mileage, real usage, real risk. What was an estimate in the contract becomes a measurement, and a measurement can be billed.
Chasing a payment, designating a driver, matching a transfer, assembling a claim file: these are reading and writing tasks, not judgement calls. Current models execute them correctly, provided they are given a clean ledger and a clear rule. That is exactly what we build.
A young company is judged as much on its refusals.
What we give, what we ask.
How long has Backlane existed?
The company is young and the product already runs in production across more than 5,000 vehicles. We would rather show production than seniority.
Who uses Backlane today?
French rental companies, long and short term, including a first fleet of 1,500 vehicles moved entirely onto the platform. Names are only published with written agreement.
How do we become a pioneer?
A diagnostic on your history, a thirty-minute demo, and an agreement on what we fix first. The programme terms are written above on this page.
No commitment. Nothing changes with your current tools or insurer.
